Walk-in showers
Walk-in showers, made for everyday ease
Open, easy to step into and beautiful to look at: a walk-in shower designed around how you live, with the seating, support and finishes you choose.
What is a walk-in shower?
A walk-in shower is a shower you can step, or roll, straight into, with a low threshold or no threshold at all, instead of climbing over the side of a tub. It can include a seat, grab bars, a handheld shower and a glass door or open entry.
When does a walk-in shower make sense?
- Stepping over the tub wall has become awkward, tiring or worrying.
- You rarely take baths, and the tub mostly holds a shower curtain.
- You would like to sit while showering, comfortably and safely.
- You are planning ahead so your bathroom keeps working for years.
- You simply want a brighter, more open, easier-to-clean bathroom.
If you currently have a tub, see our page on tub-to-shower conversions.
Which entry is right for me?
Low-threshold
A small, easy step that helps keep water in. Often fits the existing tub space and drain.
Curbless (zero-threshold)
No step at all: ideal for wheelchairs and rolling shower chairs. The floor must slope to the drain.
Glass door or panel
Frameless or framed glass, hinged, sliding or a fixed panel with an open entry.
Curtain
Weighted curtains keep the entry fully open, which can be helpful when someone assists you.
Not sure? That is what the consultation is for. We will look at your floor, drain and space and explain what is practical. More detail on curbless versus low-threshold showers.
Seating, support and fixtures
- Shower seats: built-in benches, corner seats or fold-down seats.
- Grab bars: placed at the entry and inside the shower, in a finish that matches your fixtures.
- Handheld shower: on a slide bar, for seated showers and easy rinsing.
- Controls: lever handles you can reach from the seat, outside the spray.
- Niches and shelves: at a height you can reach without bending or stretching.

Walls, glass and finishes
Accessible does not mean plain. Choose from durable, easy-clean wall systems in a range of colors and patterns, including stone- and tile-look designs, plus glass, fixtures and accessories in finishes like chrome, brushed nickel, matte black or brushed gold. We bring samples to your home so you can see them in your own light.
How much does a walk-in shower cost in Houston?
The price depends on your bathroom and your choices, so we do not quote without seeing the space. The main factors are:
- The size of the shower and the type of entry (curbless usually involves more floor work)
- Wall and floor materials, glass, and fixtures
- Seating, grab bars and other accessories
- Plumbing changes, and what we find once the old tub or shower is removed
After the consultation you receive a written, itemized proposal, so you know exactly what is included. Financing is available for qualified homeowners; ask us for details.
What does the installation process look like?
- Consultation: we listen, measure and show you options and samples.
- Proposal: a written scope and price for you to review at your own pace.
- Scheduling: we order materials and agree on dates with you.
- Installation: we protect your home, remove the old fixtures, and install your new shower.
- Walk-through: we show you how everything works and make sure you are happy.
Timelines depend on the scope. We will give you one in writing before you decide, and plan around you if this is your only shower.
Common questions
What is the difference between a low-threshold and a curbless shower?
A low-threshold shower has a small lip, typically a few inches high, that is much easier to step over than a tub wall. A curbless (zero-threshold) shower has no lip at all, so you can roll or walk straight in. Curbless showers need the floor to slope toward the drain, which on a concrete slab can mean extra work. We will tell you which is practical in your bathroom.
Can you add a seat or bench to a shower?
Yes. Options include built-in benches, corner seats and fold-down seats that stay out of the way when you do not need them. We help you choose a size and height that are comfortable to sit on and to get up from.
Are walk-in showers hard to keep clean?
They are usually easier to clean than a tub. Smooth wall panels or large-format tile mean fewer grout lines, and a handheld shower makes rinsing simple. We will explain the care each material needs before you choose.
How much does a walk-in shower cost in Houston?
It depends on the size of the shower, the type of entry (low-threshold or curbless), wall and floor materials, glass, seating, fixtures and any plumbing or floor changes. Because every bathroom is different, we do not quote a price without seeing the space. After the consultation you receive a written, itemized proposal so you can see exactly what is included.
