The VA HISA grant: how much

• Up to $6,800 for a service-connected disability, or if you have a service-connected disability rated at least 50%.
• Up to $2,000 for other qualifying disabilities.

A lifetime benefit. Amounts and rules can change; check with the VA.

How to apply, step by step

1. Ask your VA doctor for a prescription for the bathroom change. It lists the work and the medical reason.
2. Fill out and sign VA Form 10-0103.
3. Get a written, itemized estimate. We provide one after a free visit to your home.
4. Take a color photo of the bathroom as it is now.
5. Renting? Add a signed, notarized letter from the owner allowing the work.
6. Send it all to your VA Prosthetics office. Ask them about approval and payment before any work starts.
